Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Seoraksan, stretching from the highest peak of the Taebaek Mountain Range, Daecheongbong (1,708m), which forms the backbone of the Korean Peninsula, is the most beautiful mountain in South Korea. It evokes admiration from visitors at any time of the year, with spring flowers such as azaleas, clear and clean valley waters in summer, autumn foliage, and snow-covered winter landscapes. With Hangyeryeong and Misiryeong as boundaries, the western side (Inje-gun) is called Naeseorak. Naeseorak features beautiful valleys and outstanding mountain scenery, including Baekdam Valley, Suryeomdong Valley, Gugokdam Valley, Gayadong Valley, Sipiseonnyeotang Valley, Yongajangseong, Gwittaegigol, and the Daeseung Falls and Ongnyeotang in the Jangsu-dae area. Naeseorak is where you can truly appreciate the valley beauty of Seorak. With diverse valley branches, there are many hiking courses. Representative courses include the Yongdae-ri–Baekdam Valley–Suryeomdong course, the Sipiseonnyeotang Valley course, and the Jangsu-dae–Daeseungnyeong course.
