Why travelers stop here
The Jamsil field north of Seokchon Lake was once the Han River with a ferry dock south of the West Lake. Over time, sediment accumulated to form an artificial island, creating a branch stream called Songpa River and Sincheon River that passed through the current Seokchon Lake from under Gwangjin Bridge to Jamsil Baseball Stadium. In 1969, when the development of the Han River main channel began, this stream was reclaimed, but part of it was left as a lake. In the early 1980s, the lake was renovated and turned into a park. With the opening of Songpa-daero, Seokchon Lake was divided into East Lake and West Lake, which are identical in shape. The park is an ideal park formed with lakes and green spaces, equipped with jogging and walking trails, widely used as a resting area for citizens. Seoul Nori Madang and Lotte World's Magic Island are located on the West Lake. In spring, when cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the area is crowded with people enjoying the blossoms day and night. Nearby attractions include Lotte World, Lotte Tower, and Han River Park. It is located 560m from Exit 2 of Seokchon Gobun Station on Seoul Subway Line 9.
