Eleven Korean ski resorts compared: location, access from Seoul, slopes and lifts, night skiing, lessons in English, season notes, prices where published and facilities.
Overview: how to read this list
This guide covers eleven Korean ski resorts that international visitors ask about most: MONA YongPyong, Alpensia, Phoenix Pyeongchang, High1, Welli Hilli, Elysian Gangchon, Vivaldi Park, Oak Valley, Jisan, Konjiam and Eden Valley. Each resort has two sections: where it is and how to reach it, then season, lessons and facilities. Slope counts, lift counts, hours and prices were read from each resort's own pages on 2026-10-11 and carry that date (as of 2026-10-11). Where a resort had only published its 2025/26 price list or schedule, the text says so, because the 2026/27 versions appear in the autumn.
Where the resorts are: three sit on or near the Daegwallyeong plateau in Pyeongchang (MONA YongPyong, Alpensia, Phoenix Pyeongchang). High1 in Jeongseon is the farthest east in Gangwon Province. Welli Hilli in Hoengseong and Oak Valley in Wonju lie in the middle of Gangwon Province. Vivaldi Park in Hongcheon and Elysian Gangchon in Chuncheon are in the north-west of the province. Jisan in Icheon and Konjiam in Gwangju are in Gyeonggi Province, the closest to Seoul. Eden Valley in Yangsan is in the south-east, on the Busan side of the country.
Rough travel from Seoul, as given by the resorts and by public sources (as of 2026-10-11): Konjiam is about 40 minutes of riding by rail from Gangnam, with a change at Pangyo, plus a taxi of about 10 minutes. Jisan is about 1 hour 20 minutes by bus from the Dong-Seoul terminal to Icheon, then a local bus. Elysian Gangchon is a little over an hour on the ITX-Cheongchun train plus a resort shuttle. Vivaldi Park is about 1 to 1.5 hours by bus to Hongcheon, then onward by road. The Pyeongchang resorts are about 2 hours 30 minutes by express bus from Dong-Seoul to Hoenggye, or under about 80 minutes by KTX to Pyeongchang Station and then a shuttle or taxi.
Best for, going by the published numbers (as of 2026-10-11): MONA YongPyong lists the most terrain, 28 slopes over 29.1 km. High1 lists 19 slopes and a 4.2 km longest run. Jisan lists 10 slopes, 7.3 km in total, with lifts running through the night. Alpensia has only 6 slopes but one slope and one lift are kept for first-timers. Elysian Gangchon and Konjiam suit a short trip from Seoul, and Eden Valley is the choice from Busan.
MONA YongPyong (Daegwallyeong, Pyeongchang, Gangwon)
MONA YongPyong is at 715 Olympic-ro, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, on the slopes of Mt. Balwangsan at roughly 700 to 1,458 m above sea level. The resort was established in 1975 and has 2,631 rooms across a hotel, condominium towers (Tower, Villa, Greenpia) and owner residences, so most guests ski and sleep on the same mountain.
Terrain (as of 2026-10-11): 28 slopes totaling 29.1 km, graded from beginner to expert, plus an extreme-graded terrain park called Dragon Park. There are 14 lifts including one eight-seat gondola, 13.6 km of lifts in all. The longest run is Rainbow Paradise, 5,600 m long with a 702 m drop. Getting there from Seoul and the airport (as of 2026-10-11): the resort lists an express bus from the South Seoul and East Seoul terminals to Hoenggye, the town with the intercity bus stop, and you continue from there by taxi. From Incheon Airport a non-stop shuttle called the Purple Ski Bus runs in the winter season only. It takes about 3 hours and leaves from platform 9C on the first floor, across the street from arrival gate 8 (a second stop, 1C, is across from gate 1). There is no direct bus from Gimpo Airport, so travelers go via the Dong-Seoul terminal.
MONA YongPyong: season, lessons and facilities
Season (as of 2026-10-11): the resort's overview gives mid-November to late March, with early April mentioned in the same text, and an average annual snowfall of 250 cm. Choosing between resorts
For a day trip from Seoul, the near resorts are Konjiam, Jisan, Elysian Gangchon and Oak Valley. Jisan and Elysian Gangchon both run night and late-night sessions until 02:00 (as of 2026-10-11), which suits an after-work trip. For the most terrain and an overnight stay, MONA YongPyong (28 slopes, 29.1 km, 2,631 rooms) and High1 (19 slopes, a 4.2 km longest run) are the large ones. Vivaldi Park combines skiing with a water park, and Eden Valley is the choice from Busan.
For first-timers and families (as of 2026-10-11): Alpensia keeps a beginner slope, ALPHA, and its own four-seat lift for first-timers. Jisan has two 300 m beginner slopes and a moving walkway for lessons. Eden Valley has two beginner slopes, Basic and Main, with a 200 m moving walkway.
Lessons in English, Chinese or Japanese (as of 2026-10-11): MONA YongPyong is the only resort whose lesson description names a language, with small classes for foreign guests taught by English-speaking instructors. Among the lesson descriptions that could be read, none states Chinese or Japanese instruction, and the others do not name a language at all, so ask for an English-speaking instructor when you book.
Night skiing and timing (as of 2026-10-11): night sessions are sold at MONA YongPyong (evening ticket 19:00-23:00), Alpensia (18:30-21:30, which ran from 20 December to 17 February last season), Jisan (to 02:00, plus an all-night ticket from 00:00 to 04:00) and Elysian Gangchon (to 02:00).
