Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch

Shinsegae Department Store first introduced the concept of a modern department store in the early 1960s and established the first direct management system. The Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch is a symbolic place representing the tradition and value of Shinsegae. It is located on the site of the former Mitsukoshi Gyeongseong Branch, Korea's first department store, and its long history is felt in the elegant old architecture. After undergoing remodeling in 2007, it now stands as a luxury goods store promoting a cultural space. The newly opened main branch offers brands that elevate the quality of shopping, including the world's top three luxury brands Hermès, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton, as well as Giorgio Armani Black Label, Denim Mania, and Shoes Holic, exclusively presented by Shinsegae. To provide differentiated shopping services, the fifth floor operates the curated store Wundershop & Company. Wundershop, which can be considered the original curated store in Korea, has been upgraded with products from young brands and emerging designers. The main branch provides a space where shopping and culture harmonize. The sixth-floor Trinity Garden is famous as a sculpture park displaying artworks by world-renowned masters. Works by famous artists such as Alexander Calder, Joan Miró, and Henry Moore, the father of British sculpture, are exhibited. Water flows among the sculptures, and benches are placed throughout, allowing visitors to enjoy art and relax after shopping. Through works that harmonize traditional and modern aesthetics, it strives to become a cultural space offering rest and inspiration beyond a shopping area.
