Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Jongno Jewelry Street is the largest specialized jewelry street in South Korea. Since the 1960s, its scope has expanded around Yeji-dong, encompassing the entire Jongno area, making it a jewelry street with a long tradition. Getting off at Jongno 3-ga Station and heading into the alley next to Dansaengsa, you can easily find the narrow street lined with numerous jewelry shops. There are about 3,000 stores, and it accounts for 70% of the nation's jewelry trade volume, with active transactions taking place. Jewelry can be purchased at about 20-40% cheaper than market prices, so many engaged couples come to buy wedding supplies. In particular, Dansaengsa has turned the 3rd floor above ground to the 1st basement floor among its 11 floors into a jewelry center, housing about 500 jewelry stores. It is also popular as a shopping course for foreigners.
