Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Daehangno Book Alley is an old alley where new books can be purchased cheaply, and it served as an intermediary connecting publishers and small bookstores nationwide. Unlike the well-known Cheonggyecheon Used Book Alley, Daehangno Book Alley is not widely known, but it acts as a bridge linking approximately 1,500 publishers and 3,000 bookstores across the country, with books from large and small stores mostly passing through this wholesale hub. Series, single volumes, and magazines are mainly distributed, and some stores specialize exclusively in martial arts novels and comic books. During its heyday in the 1980s, there were over 80 shops, but with the development of the internet and various distribution channels, many stores have disappeared; however, the large quantity of used books available makes browsing enjoyable.
