Hadang

Located in Seongbuk-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Hadang is a place where you can taste the handcrafted flavors of North Korean cuisine, honed over 20 years by the owner, who hails from Hadang, Pyeongannam-do. Hence, the restaurant's name is also Hadang, and it offers North Korean dishes that may be unfamiliar. Upon entering after taking off your shoes, the welcoming atmosphere gives a warm feeling reminiscent of a grandmother's house. The signature menu items are mandu-guk (dumpling soup) and mandu-jeongol (dumpling hot pot), both boiled cleanly in a clear broth. Additionally, the naengmyeon-style buckwheat kalguksu (cold buckwheat noodle soup) with a refreshing broth made from a proper blend of beef broth and dongchimi (radish water kimchi) juice is also popular. There is also a savory nokdu-jijim (mung bean pancake) that goes well as a side dish.
