Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Geumseonsa Temple is a beautiful temple filled with a wonderful natural environment and the scent of pine trees. It is located in Gugi-dong, Jongno-gu, where Inwangsan Mountain, home to Cheong Wa Dae and Gyeongbokgung Palace, is visible. Passing by the Office of the Five Northern Korean Provinces and following the Bibong Course of Bukhansan National Park, you will encounter the first gateway, the Iljumun Gate of Samgaksan Geumseonsa Temple. Passing through the Banyajeon Hall where Buddhist services are held, there is a pine tree over 200 years old in the center. Beyond the pine tree, climbing the 108 steps leads to Daejeokgwangjeon Hall, where the main Buddha of Geumseonsa Temple is enshrined, located at the very center and highest point of the temple, displaying its grandeur. To the right is Samseonggak Hall, and there is a Hongye Bridge where the first-grade water of Bukhansan Mountain gathers and flows down.
