Seobinggo-dong Bugundang

Seobinggo-dong Bugundang is a shrine built by the residents of this village during the Joseon Dynasty to protect the village and ensure the well-being of its inhabitants. Bugundang is a name for shrines used only in the Gyeonggi region centered on Seoul. This shrine not only displays the architectural style of a new shrine from the late Joseon period but is also a small tiled-roof house that shows the village deity faith of the Seoul area. It preserves five plaques, including one hung when the shrine was repaired in the 13th year of King Injo of Joseon (1635), along with a painting of a martial deity. In particular, the painting of the martial deity is said to depict King Taejo of Joseon and his consort, as well as the Three Buddhas of the Stone, the gods of childbirth, life, and agriculture, and serves as the object of a guardian deity protecting the village.
