Incheon Art Platform

Located in Haean-dong, the former Nippon Yusen Kaisha Incheon Branch building was the office of a Japanese shipping company that monopolized Incheon's shipping industry after the port opened. Nippon Yusen Kaisha virtually monopolized Incheon's shipping industry at the time, and it continues its shipping business with its headquarters in Tokyo to this day. This building was relatively large for a commercial building of the period, featuring a red roof and yellow tile exterior walls. It is one of the oldest surviving modern buildings in Korea, and its original form is well preserved among privately owned buildings that are not religious or public facilities, making it highly valuable as a modern cultural heritage. Until recently, it was used as an office for a shipping-related company, and it holds value as a building that showcases the history of Korea's shipping industry.
