Why travelers stop here
A dondae is a guard post built in border or coastal areas with good visibility to monitor enemy movements or prepare for attacks. It is typically constructed on high flat ground, with the outer wall built high like a fortress and the inner side lowered to install cannons. This dondae is located on a hill southwest of Mangwolpyeongya Plain, and records remain on the outer wall side. It was managed by the government office along with Mangwoldondae. According to existing records, it was established in the 5th year of King Sukjong of Joseon (1679). Such a record of the construction year of a dondae is rare.
