Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall

Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall in Incheon Metropolitan City is an exhibition hall that introduces the history of Daebul Hotel, Korea's first Western-style hotel. Daebul Hotel was a Western-style hotel where foreigners entering Incheon Port after its opening stayed before heading to Seoul, and it was popular at the time. However, after the opening of the Gyeongin Line and the Russo-Japanese War, visits by Westerners decreased, leading to financial difficulties and eventual closure. Later, a Chinese person took over the building and operated it as a Chinese restaurant called 'Jungwharu', but it was demolished and reopened as an exhibition hall in 2018. Hall 1, the Daebul Hotel Exhibition Hall, introduces the historical background from the exterior of Daebul Hotel, Korea's first hotel, and its prosperous past to its decline, and operates exhibitions based on relics discovered at the Daebul Hotel site and materials on hotels and inns that were in the open port area during the Japanese colonial period. Hall 2, the Jung-gu Life History Exhibition Hall, allows visitors to view the changes and life history of Incheon Jung-gu from the 1960s to 1970s, starting from its beginning (1968), through various contents.
