Baebongsan

Baebongsan is the only mountain-type park in Dongdaemun-gu. Following the Kim Shin-jo incident in 1968, a military unit was established at the summit in 1973, restricting access to the top for 48 years. However, after the military unit relocated in 2015, the area was restored as a park, and Goguryeo defense remains were discovered at the summit, leading to its designation as Seoul Metropolitan City Monument No. 42. From 2013 to 2018, a 4.5 km trail was completed, accessible to people of all ages and those with mobility impairments, with benches appropriately placed along the way for rest. Various cultural and sports facilities, including a forest library, artificial rock climbing wall, X-game zone, and a clay walking path, are also available, making it a landmark in Dongdaemun.
