Why travelers stop here
Ganghwa Nadeulgil is a walking trail that allows visitors to closely explore Ganghwado Island, passing by the donje (military posts) located every 1.3km along the coast, Ganghwasanseong Fortress, and the Goryeo Royal Tombs. The trail consists of a total of 20 courses, offering a diverse experience of Ganghwa's history, ecology, daily life, and culture as you walk slowly along the path. Ganghwa is a place with so many historical sites that it is no exaggeration to say the entire island is a museum. 'Ganghwa Nadeulgil Course 3: The Path to Goryeo Royal Tombs' is a 16.2km section connecting Onsu Public Parking Lot to Gareung, allowing visitors to explore the Goryeo Royal Tombs. Starting from the east gate of Jeondeungsa Temple, the course goes through the temple grounds, passes the north gate of Samnangseong Fortress, circles around Onsu Anglican Church, and heads toward Giljeong Reservoir. It passes by the tomb of Yi Gyu-bo, the greatest literary figure of the Goryeo Dynasty, and then explores the Goryeo Royal Tombs. A Ganghwa Nadeulgil walking passport is also available, so collecting stamps after completing the course adds to the fun.
