Tomb of Uian Daegun Bangseok

This is the tomb of Uian Daegun (宜安大君) Yi Bang-seok (李芳碩, 1382~1398), the eighth son of King Taejo of Joseon. Uian Daegun was the son of Queen Sindeok (神德王后) of the Kang clan and a half-brother of King Taejong, his name being Bangseok. Thanks to his father Yi Seong-gye's achievements, he served as a military supply officer (gunki noksa) in the Goryeo dynasty at a young age. When the Joseon dynasty was founded and the issue of crown prince selection arose early in King Taejo's reign, he was made crown prince in August 1392 by Bae Geuk-ryeom, Jo Jun, Jeong Do-jeon, and others. He was later killed during the Prince's Rebellion initiated by Bang-won. In 1406 (the 6th year of King Taejong), he was posthumously given the title Sodo-gong, and in 1680 (the 6th year of King Sukjong), he was posthumously elevated to Uian Daegun.

On April 13, 1998, it was designated as Gyeonggi-do Monument No. 166, and is owned and managed by the Uian Daegun branch of the Jeonju Yi clan. The tomb is located on a mountain ridge called Aegineung, facing south. To the left and right of the tomb stand two stone figures of civil officials, and there are a stone table, a stone incense burner, and a tombstone. In front of the tomb are the tomb and tombstone of Crown Princess Sim, and behind the tomb area is a mountain god altar. This tomb site, dating from the early Joseon period with characteristics of Goryeo-era burial practices, features a stone wall and a rectangular stone guard surrounding the burial mound, a rare form in the region south of the Han River.
