Why travelers stop here
The Ayangdong Stone Standing Buddha is a Maitreya Buddha located next to a Bodhisattva standing statue. It is carved from a single piece of granite, with a primitive and localized style, and is presumed to be a work from the Goryeo period. Its overall size is smaller than that of the Bodhisattva standing statue, and its impression is dignified. On the head, there is a mark on the crown like a hat, with neatly arranged eyes, nose, and mouth, short ears, and a wide band resembling a robe without the three folds on the neck. The robe covers both shoulders, with three distinct robe folds on the left and right hanging sleeves. The lower part from the knee area is buried.
