Nakwon History Park

Anseong Nakwon History Park features a total of 46 monuments including merit monuments, stone statues of civil officials, and eulogy monuments, as well as a literary monument for novelist Lee Bong-gu. It houses a three-story stone pagoda from the Goryeo period, a seated stone Buddha made by gathering scattered pedestals and mandorlas, and a mandorla and pedestal reportedly excavated from Seoknamsa Temple, offering many sights and stories. Particularly noteworthy is the Monument to Commemorate the Suppression of the Rebellion by O Myeong-hang (1673-1728), which was originally located in Dongbon-dong and was relocated and restored here in 1969. O Myeong-hang served as the Supreme Commander of the Expeditionary Force that quelled the Yi In-jwa Rebellion in the 4th year of King Yeongjo (1728) and was honored as a First-Class Meritorious Subject. The monument was erected in 1744 (the 20th year of King Yeongjo) to commemorate this. Novelist Lee Bong-gu, a native of Anseong, also engaged in rural enlightenment movements during the Japanese colonial period. His works include the novels <Myeongdong Elegy> and <Banga-ro>, as well as <Anseong Market Day>, set in Anseong.
