경기도 시흥시 하중로173번길 11 (하중동)

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Beopryungsa Temple, a branch temple of Jikjisa Temple under the 8th Diocese of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, was founded in 1986 by the venerable Monk Deokgi. Since its establishment, the temple has served as a propagation center, but its main hall (Daeungjeon) was lost to a fire. Through the vow of the current head monk, Hyeonyeo, the restoration of the Sumajejeon (the central prayer hall of Beopryungsa) was undertaken, resulting in the reconstruction of a three-bay front, two-bay side hip-and-gable roof hall, dedicated to propagation and practice. Since its founding, Beopryungsa has enshrined the Medicine Buddha (Yaksayeorae), and it remains a sacred site filled with the spiritual efficacy of the Medicine Buddha prayer, healing the bodies and minds of many to this day.
