Why travelers stop here
Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, is the area with the largest number of foreigners in Korea and can be called a small world within Korea. The area around Wongok-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si was designated as a Multicultural Special Zone in 2009. There is also a Multicultural Food Street where you can taste various foods from around the world, allowing you to enjoy traditional dishes from different countries without going abroad. As the area around Wongok-dong was designated as a Multicultural Special Zone, the street scenery began to change gradually. A Foreign Residents Center exclusively for foreigners was established, and bank names that cannot be written in Chinese characters, such as Woori Bank or Hana Bank, were changed to Chinese characters on their signs. On the streets, there are more signs in foreign languages than in Korean, and most people passing by are foreigners. Next to the Wongokbon-dong Community Center, the Foreign Residents Center has a signpost showing the directions to various countries around the world and the distances to them.
