Juksan Duhyeon-ri Stone Standing Triad Buddha

경기도 안성시 죽산면 두현리

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

The Duhyeon-ri Stone Standing Triad Buddha is enshrined in a protective pavilion next to a private house at the foot of Taebongsan Mountain. The Buddha statue is carved in low relief on the entire surface of granite, depicting a standing triad. The principal Buddha has a high ushnisha, with faint three lines (samdo) on the neck, and the robe covering both shoulders hangs down, with long U-shaped drapery folds extending below the chest and waist. The back of the stone Buddha is left undecorated. Originally, the lower half was buried underground, but during the repair of the protective pavilion in 2005, the buried lower half was raised and a pedestal was installed. Although detailed features are difficult to discern, it is presumed to be a Buddha statue from the Goryeo period.
