The Oido site is a representative shell mound (shell tomb) of the central western coastal region of Korea, providing valuable data for studying the coastal life and culture of Korea's prehistoric era. After being designated as National Historic Site No. 441 in 2002, Oido Prehistoric Site Park was created for the preservation and utilization of the cultural heritage and opened on April 10, 2018. Oido Prehistoric Site Park features a prehistoric experience village where visitors can glimpse various aspects of prehistoric cultural life, a camping village for pit house experiences, excavation sites, and hunting grounds. In addition, it offers various attractions such as the Shell Mound Exhibition Hall highlighting the importance of the Neolithic Oido shell mound, an observatory to enjoy the sunset at Oido, and a reed path perfect for walks.
