Maeum Garden

Maeum Garden is located in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, along the Bukhangang River, and is a great place for a quiet walk. It is connected to the adjacent Water Garden's bicycle path and walking trail. There are many cozy resting spots here, such as four-leaf clover benches and log chairs, making it a good place for families to spend time with their children. Maeum Garden itself, as an empty space, offers visitors a sense of serene healing. Just sitting on a bench overlooking the Bukhangang River and watching the flowing water makes time and worries fade away. On one side of the riverside, a small boat is placed, hinting that this place was once a ferry. Maeum Garden is said to have been Yongjin Ferry, which once connected the Songchon-ri area of Joan-myeon and the Yangpyeong region across the Bukhangang River. According to an old tale, a dragon crossed the river, giving it the name Yongjin. Thus, Maeum Garden, holding the depth of time, offers moving experiences through its walking path along the Bukhangang River, changing with the seasons. From spring with cherry blossoms in full bloom and summer with lush greenery, to the walking path lined with autumn leaves and silver grass fields, and winter with dazzling snowy landscapes, it provides peace of mind through the changing seasons, as if soothing a tired and comfort-seeking heart. Additionally, this place is a habitat for various fish and aquatic plants and is also known as a stopover for migratory birds. It would be a good travel course to also explore the nearby Ungilsan Mountain, which seems to guard the area, and the adjacent Water Garden.
