Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

The name Cheonseori originates from the village being located west of Sillaecheon (神來川). Cheonseori Makguksu Village is a nationally renowned makguksu village situated at the foot of Pasasan Fortress, a historic site, attracting many visitors. Its spicy, invigorating flavor that awakens the palate is exceptional. Cheonseori makguksu is characterized by a cold broth made by sequentially mixing pheasant broth and dongchimi (radish water kimchi) juice. This unique cold broth harmonizes with buckwheat to create its distinctive taste. Buckwheat, widely cultivated in mountainous regions of Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do, has been known since ancient times as a nutritious food, and was traditionally eaten as a postpartum meal before seaweed soup.
