Geomdansan Mountain

Located east of Hanam City Hall, this mountain stands at 657 meters and is famous as a representative mountain of Hanam City. It is known as a sacred mountain where kings performed ancestral rites to heaven as the Sung Mountain and Jinsan of Hanam Wiryeseong during the Baekje Hanseong period. From the summit of Geomdansan, you can enjoy views of Yangsuri, where the Namhan River and Bukhan River meet, as well as Hanam City, Seoul, Yangpyeong, and the surrounding area of Paldang Lake, making it a popular day hiking course near Seoul. Located near Seoul with convenient transportation, well-maintained hiking trails, and courses that are not too difficult, it is good for family outings as a day hike. For hiking, you can use the trails from San-gok Elementary School in Hasangok-dong and from below Baealmi across Paldang Dam, with the former being more convenient for transportation. Additionally, there is a hiking trail to the Memorial Tower starting from the direction of Korea Animation High School in Changwoo-dong.

The hike starting from Hasangok-dong has a very steep initial slope, but old pine trees cover the path on the mid-slope, making it good for resting. Standing on the wide and flat summit, you can see the ridges of Bukhansan and Dobongsan in the distance. To the east, Paldang Dam is visible; to the south, the ridge extends to Yongmasan Mountain; and to the west, the Jungbu Expressway runs vigorously. Originally, King Sejong's tomb was planned to be built here but was moved to Yeoju, and the prepared tomb site remains to this day, telling history. There is also the grave of Yu Gil-jun, who wrote "Seoyugyeonmun" (Observations on a Journey to the West).
