Hyunchung Tower (Hanam)

Located on the hiking trail of Geomdansan Mountain. It was built on July 11, 2001, with the collective will and devotion of Hanam citizens. As a structure with a total height of 20m, it features a large bronze statue 9m high erected on a triangular composition symbolizing Geomdansan Mountain, honoring the sacred spirit of those who sacrificed their lives for the country. On the left and right, abstract sculptures representing freedom and peace are placed. The bronze statue philosophically and symbolically expresses the wish for the spirits to ascend to heaven and enjoy eternal bliss. The semi-abstract group sculptures at the ends of the tower depict the image of playing a requiem to soothe the souls, and the four lines in the center of the triangular composition symbolize the development of Hanam City and the harmony of its citizens. The sculpture was created by Lee Il-young, the text was written by Han Un-sa, and the calligraphy was engraved by Lee Byung-tae. Every New Year and on Memorial Day, commemorative events are held here to honor the patriotic spirits.
