150-Year-Old Zelkova Tree

This is a 150-year-old zelkova tree, serving as a testament that a village existed here before the area was transformed into a large-scale housing complex. It was planted 150 years ago by a resident of the village of Namal (the old name of Mok 4-dong) and has survived to the present day. During the Korean War, it was bombed and nearly died, but new shoots sprouted, overcoming various disasters and growing well to reach its current form. According to local lore, anyone who makes a wish under this tree will have it fulfilled, and damaging it carelessly will bring curses and great calamities, so it is revered as a living guardian of the village. This zelkova tree is carefully tended and protected by the residents of Mok 4-dong.
