Why travelers stop here
Located at the foot of Namsan Mountain, the National Theater Performing Arts Museum is Korea's first museum specializing in performing arts, opened on December 23, 2009. It displays approximately 440,000 items from various genres of performing arts, including theater, dance, changgeuk, opera, and pansori, spanning from the establishment of the National Theater in 1950 to the present, through exhibitions and a resource room. The permanent exhibition hall on the second floor of the Performing Arts Museum consists of a performing arts history exhibition space showcasing the historical flow of Korean performing arts and a performance theme exhibition space displaying the process of how a performance comes to the stage by feature. The Byeolbyeol Silgam Theater was newly created by partially remodeling the existing Byeoloreum Theater and museum lobby, offering a new form of immersive content that combines the latest technology with performing arts. The Byeolbyeol Experience Zone is a space where visitors can experience moving posters, stage makeup, and costume try-ons using augmented reality technology. It is located 900 meters from Exit 6 of Dongguk University Station on Subway Line 3 and situated behind the National Theater, making it a good place to visit before or after a performance.
