Why travelers stop here
Namsan Park is a natural resting place located in the heart of Seoul, providing fresh air to citizens. It is also a center of leisure life, offering facilities such as N Seoul Tower and Namsan Cable Car, as well as various activities like walking, exercise, and relaxation.
The official name of Namsan Park is Namsan Urban Natural Park. Namsan is a symbol of Seoul located in the city center. Its original name was Ingyeongsan, but after King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty moved the capital from Gaeseong to Seoul, it was called 'Namsan' because it is a mountain to the south. It is also an important mountain in terms of feng shui as the 'Ansan' (front mountain). From 1991 to 1999, the 'Restoring Namsan's Original Appearance' project relocated 89 negative facilities within the park and created an outdoor botanical garden, extensively restoring and reorganizing areas in Yejang-dong, Hoehyeon-dong (Jung-gu), and Hannam-dong (Yongsan-gu), providing citizens with rest and fresh air, and transforming the park into a center of leisure life.
