Gahak-dong Dolmen

The Gahak-dong Dolmen, a representative tomb of the Bronze Age, is a northern-style table-shaped dolmen. It is said that the name Gahak-dong originated from cranes playing in this area in the past, and it was also called Jangsubawi (Longevity Rock). Until the 1960s, villagers held a mountain god ritual here to pray for longevity and a bountiful harvest. Located at the peak of Beolmal Village, this Bronze Age tomb or altar for heaven worship shows traces of megalithic faith. There are a total of six dolmens: a table-shaped dolmen at the western end and five dolmens to the east, arranged almost in an east-west direction. The Gahak-dong Dolmen is an important relic that shows the beginning of prehistoric culture and traces of life in the Gwangmyeong area. Additionally, from a folkloric perspective, it is the origin of the village name and also exists as a religious object for praying for abundance and prosperity.
