Why travelers stop here
Ganggyeong Old Yeonsudang Geonjae Yakbang is a two-story hanok commercial building built in 1923 during the Japanese colonial period in Ganggyeong-eup, Nonsan. Located in the center of Ganggyeong Market, it once enjoyed prosperity and is the only surviving building among those photographed in Ganggyeong in the 1920s, giving it high historical value. Originally named [Namildang Herbal Medicine Store] at the time of construction, the building later changed ownership and was operated under the name [Yeonsudang Geonjae Herbal Medicine Store], and is currently managed by descendants. Examining the building's structure, it combines traditional Korean-style architecture with commercial functions, showing the transition of modern hanok. Although the structure is Korean-style, the first-floor awning roof, roof decorations, and modified wooden veranda exhibit Japanese architectural influences, making it a building with significant preservation needs. Recognized for its value, it was designated a National Registered Cultural Heritage in 2002. Ganggyeong Old Yeonsudang Geonjae Yakbang can be accessed via National Road 23, Local Roads 68 and 799 using Oknyeobong-ro, etc. The nearest highways are the Nonsan Cheonan Expressway's Yeonmu IC and the Honam Expressway Branch's Nonsan IC. For public transportation, Ganggyeong Station on the Honam Line and the Ganggyeong Bus Stop are available. Nearby attractions include Ganggyeong Jeotgal Market, Ganggyeong History Museum, Ganggyeong Modern Street, and Ganggyeong Port.
