Why travelers stop here
Ganggyeong History and Culture Information Center (Former Ganggyeong Labor Union) is a tourist information center and cultural heritage located in Ganggyeong-eup, Nonsan-si. During the 1920s, the Ganggyeong area was a hub where the Geumgang waterway and the Honam railway line met, leading to the development of the distribution industry and a large labor union. This building, which served as the office of the Ganggyeong Labor Union, was newly built in 1925. Originally constructed as a two-story wooden hanok building, only the first floor remains today. At the time of completion, the first floor was fully open and used as office space, while the second floor consisted of two rooms. Later, in the autumn of 1953, the building was renovated and partially expanded, and it was used as a salted seafood warehouse before being repurposed as the Ganggyeong History and Culture Information Center. Currently, visitors can view old photographs, exhibits, and books about the Ganggyeong area, and listen to explanations from docents of the Ganggyeong History and Culture Research Institute.
Ganggyeong History and Culture Information Center (Former Ganggyeong Labor Union) can be accessed via National Route 23, Local Route 68, and Local Route 799. The nearest highways are the Nonsan-Cheonan Expressway's Yeonmu IC and the Honam Expressway Branch's Nonsan IC. For public transportation, Ganggyeong Station on the Honam railway line and the Ganggyeong Bus Terminal can be used. Nearby attractions include Ganggyeong Salted Seafood Market, Ganggyeong History Museum, Ganggyeong Modern Street, and Ganggyeong Port.
