Gangcheonsa Valley

전북특별자치도 순창군 팔덕면 강천산길 270

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Gangcheonsan Mountain is called the Little Geumgang of Honam because its landscape changes with the seasons and remains consistently beautiful. Following the valley that stretches about 8 km between two mountain ridges starting from the mountain entrance, you will see奇特 rocks, large dark ponds, and natural waterfalls alternating and harmonizing with the surrounding forest, creating a spectacular view. Additionally, the baby maple leaves, which are the pride of Gangcheonsan Mountain, turn red, covering the entire mountain in red foliage. The valley from the ticket office to Gangcheonsa Temple has a gentle slope, making it pleasant for a stroll, and there are many spaces along the way to soak your feet in the stream and rest. Gangcheonsa Temple, a convent for Buddhist nuns, is an ancient temple founded by Master Doseon during the Silla period, and it houses a five-story stone pagoda, designated as Local Tangible Cultural Property No. 92, built during the reign of King Chungsuk of the Goryeo Dynasty.
