Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Byeongpung Falls is an artificial waterfall created in 2003 on Byeongpung Rock in Gangcheonsan County Park. Its name originates from Byeongpung Rock. According to legend, when people heading to Gangcheonsa Temple pass under Byeongpung Rock, those who have committed sins in their past lives feel as if the rock will fall on them, leading them to repent and seek forgiveness. It is said that those who pass under Byeongpung Rock become cleansed of their sins. The waterfall is approximately 40m high, 15m wide, and has a discharge rate of 5 tons per minute. Byeongpung Falls is located about 100m upstream from the management office and is the first of six waterfalls in Gangcheonsan County Park, situated about 100m past the management office. From this point, a barefoot walking course begins.
