Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Kim Yujeong Literary Village is a literary village built around the birthplace of Kim Yujeong, a writer known as Korea's eternal young author, to honor him. He left behind several masterpieces of modern Korean short stories that are indispensable in Korean literary history, such as "Spring·Spring," "Camellia Flower," and "Manmubang." In 2002, Kim Yujeong Literary Village was opened with the Kim Yujeong Birthplace, Memorial Exhibition Hall, and Treadmill, and in 2016, additional facilities such as the Kim Yujeong Story House, Outdoor Performance Hall, Experience Room, and Romantic Nuri were added across the street. The current birthplace was restored based on the historical research of Kim Yujeong's relatives and disciples, and it has a typical ㅁ-shaped house structure. The Memorial Exhibition Hall concisely displays Kim Yujeong's life and works, while the Kim Yujeong Story House shows his works and life through three-dimensional exhibits and videos. Throughout the outdoor area, sculptures inspired by Kim Yujeong's works are installed, adding to the sights. After touring the literary village, you can also walk the Silleyagi-gil Trail. Silleyagi-gil is a walking course that connects places appearing in Kim Yujeong's works, which he wrote with his hometown village as a backdrop, and is suitable for literary tours.
