Seongbuk Book Festival

Seongbuk-gu's representative reading culture festival, the Seongbuk Book Festival, is a book festival held in the square beyond the library through connections between residents, libraries, related organizations, local universities, and local shops. This event will be held outdoors for the first time in six years, with participation from residents, libraries, related organizations, local universities, and local shops. In particular, the Seongbuk-gu One Book Declaration Ceremony, which was previously held indoors, will take place at the festival site. The Seongbuk-gu One Book is the result of over 4,100 members of the One Book Promotion Group reading, discussing, and selecting over the past 10 months, and is a representative reading movement in Seongbuk where local residents directly participated. This year, authors of 12 candidate books in the literature, non-fiction, and children's categories met and communicated directly with Seongbuk-gu residents, sharing the process of selecting the One Book. Based on the results of the 'Seongbuk-gu Book of the Year' resident vote conducted since September, the district office head, former chairpersons of the One Book Promotion Group, and a child representative will officially declare the One Book. On the day of the event, a congratulatory performance by singer Stella Jang is scheduled.
