Why travelers stop here
Located on a site of about 1,000 pyeong above Peace Dam, the World Peace Bell Park features the Peace Bell, which was made by collecting 10,000 shells (37.5 tons) from 60 countries that have experienced or are experiencing conflict, and installed at a size of 5 meters in height and 3 meters in width. Bells sent from around the world are displayed in the surrounding outdoor exhibition area. Figures from around the world who sympathize with this plan have been sending bells containing the meaning of peace. Already, the mayor of Calici, Italy, Domenico Papisci, sent a bronze bell used to announce prayer times for world peace at the Santa Chiara Monastery, and Dr. Sulak Sivaraksa (74), a Thai peace activist who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, sent a bell used at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok. Along the road to the nearby Peace Dam, tourist attractions such as Gwangbawi Valley, a primitive forest valley, Bungeo Island, Paroho Peace Museum, and Haesan Observatory, where tiger footprints and droppings were found, are scattered, making it a top travel destination.
