Anti-Communist Martyrs Memorial Tower

The Anti-Communist Martyrs Memorial Tower is a tower about 15 meters high, built to honor the patriotic martyrs who lost their lives fighting for the country. It was erected to commemorate the comrades from patriotic right-wing organizations such as the Daedong Youth Corps, the Korean Youth Corps, the Korean Federation of Trade Unions, the Anti-Communist League, the Minbodan, and the Northwest Youth Association, as well as police officers, firefighters, students, and many other patriotic comrades within Yeongdeungpo-gu who sacrificed their lives with a belief in national salvation during the bloodshed after the liberation of the homeland on August 15, 1945, and the national crisis caused by North Korea's invasion on June 25, 1950. The memorial tower is located along Nodeul-gil, which runs beside the Yeouido stream next to Singil Station, and a memorial service is held every June to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs. This tower was established by the Yeongdeungpo-gu Veterans Association and the Anti-Communist Martyrs Memorial Tower Construction Committee, and it is a place where various patriotic organizations and the public pay special tribute to their dedicated actions and sacrifices.
