Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi's Tomb

Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi's Tomb is the burial site of Baudeogi (1848–1870), a member of the Namsadang (male performance troupe). Baudeogi's real name was Kim Am-deok. In the late Joseon period, she mastered various arts such as Buddhist chanting, small drum dance, and tightrope walking in Buldanggol, Cheongnyong-ri, Seoun-myeon, and became famous for her outstanding skills. When she went out into the world to hold performances, there was no one who did not know her name. Buldanggol was renowned as a base for Sadangpae (itinerant performance troupes) since the early Joseon period. In the 2nd year of King Gojong's reign (1865), when Heungseon Daewongun mobilized laborers from all eight provinces to expand Gyeongbong Palace, he heard that the Anseong Namsadangpae was famous and summoned her to hold a performance, greatly contributing to the workers' morale. For this, she was awarded an okgwanja (a rank corresponding to senior third grade), and her spirit was revered by the world as 'the one who received the okgwanja'.

The Namsadangpae excelled in six performances: pungmulnori (farmers' music and dance), beona (plate spinning), salpan (acrobatics), eoreum (tightrope walking), deotboegi (mask dance), and deolmi (puppet play). As Baudeogi's Gaedalipae became famous, many Namsadangpae such as Bokmanipae, Wonyundeokpae, and Lee Wonbopae emerged in Anseong, making Anseong a hub of pungmul.
