Jeongtosa Temple (Seongnam)

Jeongtosa Temple is a sanctuary surrounded by the nature of Cheonggyesan Mountain, covering an area of about 7,000 pyeong, filled with the fragrance of lotus flowers from Baeknyeonji and Hongnyeonji ponds. The temple originated from the 100-pyeong Sangjeokam hermitage operated by Kim Jong-wook's mother since the 1960s. On June 20, 1982, Monk Han Bogwang and several devotees took it over and founded Jeongtoseonwon (淨土禪院). At that time, a statue of Amitabha Buddha in the mudra of preaching in the Pure Land (極樂淨土現在說法結印) was enshrined. On August 28 of the same year, it became affiliated with the Daeghakhoe Foundation, and in 1987, Geungnakjeon Hall was built. To commemorate the Manil Yeombul Gyeolsahoe (Ten Thousand Day Recitation Society) started in 2000 and to check the practice of recitation practitioners, an annual event called 'Manil Yeombul Gyeolsahoe Founding Anniversary Dharma Assembly' is held for two days from June 5 to June 6. Additionally, on the 15th day of each lunar month, a Amitabha Day Dharma Assembly is held; on the first Sunday of each month, a Sunday Dharma Assembly; and on the 1st to 3rd days of each lunar month, an In-deung Shinjung Gido Dharma Assembly is held. Jeongtosa Temple operates a Templestay program where visitors can comfortably rest their mind and body. The clean environment and the temple-only hall at the Yeombul Hall provide the best accommodation and facilities for program activities, offering Templestay programs suitable for individuals, families, and groups.
