Yangju Gwanaji (Yangju Government Office Site)

This is the administrative district established in the Yangju area of Gyeonggi-do during the Joseon Dynasty, where the government office that governed Yangjumok for 417 years until the Japanese colonial period was located. It is said to have been restored from the Goju area in 1506 and then moved to Yuyang-ri, south of Bulgoksan Mountain. According to records such as Gyeonggi Eupji and Yangjumok Eupji, there were 31 facilities including a guesthouse, prison, eupchang, jinchang, military equipment storage, gunpowder storage, and government offices. Additionally, although the scale of the government office cannot be determined as it fell into ruins when Yangju was relocated to Uijeongbu during the Korean War and Japanese colonial period, it can be inferred from the administrative unit name 'Mok' that the government office was very large. In 1996, as the Yangju Gwanaji area was designated as a pilot cultural village, one dongheon building was restored in 1997 as part of the Wongol Cultural Village creation project, and about 20 songdeokbi (commemorative monuments) for officials who served as Yangjumoksa were erected in one corner of the yard. Additionally, after excavation surveys were conducted as part of the maintenance project for Yangju Gwanaji, it has been preserved in its current state.
