Gyeongancheon Wetland Ecological Park

경기도 광주시 퇴촌면 정지리 447

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Gyeongancheon Wetland Ecological Park, where fresh greenery and reeds harmonize in spring, summer, and fall, is a place where various migratory birds play all year round. A few trees visible through the reed forest along the lakeside add to the charm. This is a unique place that naturally turned into a wetland after farmland and lowlands were submerged following the construction of the Paldang Dam in 1973. As various aquatic plants and numerous migratory and resident birds have come to inhabit the area, it has been reborn as a site for birdwatching and nature learning. A well-maintained walking path circles the park, providing a resting place for families on a stroll and cyclists. The wetland has an excellent natural purification function, greatly contributing to the improvement of water quality, and there are plans to gradually expand its scope. This park serves as a wetland nature learning site, attracting many individual and group visitors.
