Why travelers stop here
Bisan Nurungji Baeksuk is a baeksuk (Korean chicken soup) specialty restaurant located in Bisan-dong, Dongan-gu, Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. The interior is ordinary but clean and tidy. Situated at the foot of Gwanaksan Mountain, it is frequented not only by regular customers but also by many hikers. The signature dishes are nurungji chicken baeksuk and nurungji duck baeksuk. The nurungji chicken baeksuk uses native chickens, so they are large in size and have a chewy texture, but they are boiled for a long time to make them tender. The chicken breast is moist and free of any unpleasant odors, and the broth is rich and thick. With the addition of savory and chewy nurungji (scorched rice), it is an excellent nourishing meal. The herbal baeksuk also has a subtle medicinal taste and aroma that is not off-putting. The duck baeksuk is also savory and flavorful. The baeksuk dishes are served boiling hot, and since the containers are made of earthenware, the food stays warm for a long time. The neungeotang (sawtooth oak mushroom soup) and dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken) are only available by reservation.
