Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Budae-jjigae (Army Stew) originated from 'kkulkkul-juk,' a dish made by citizens suffering from food shortages right after the Korean War, who scavenged leftover meat from U.S. military base waste disposal sites and boiled it in a steel drum. However, it has now evolved into a nutritious stew filled with sausages, ham, and various toppings, gaining nationwide fame. Among them, the budae-jjigae in Uijeongbu is recognized for its taste, often called 'Uijeongbu Jjigae,' and one of the most representative restaurants is Boyoung Restaurant. We hope you will taste the deep, spicy flavor from the homemade barley gochujang (red chili paste) and kimchi.
