Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

The Anglican Church of Korea Seoul Cathedral is a disciple community that evangelizes with the faith of fellowship. This building serves as the cathedral of the Diocese of Seoul of the Anglican Church of Korea. It was constructed and consecrated by Bishop Mark Trollope, the third bishop of the Anglican Church of Korea, based on the design of British architect Arthur Dixon. Later, in 1993, the original blueprint was found in a library in the United Kingdom, and the cathedral was completed in 1996 according to its original design. This cathedral is a beautiful building that harmonizes Romanesque style with traditional Korean architectural techniques. Its exterior is in the shape of a cross, with various lines creating harmony. Inside the cathedral, stone pillars symbolizing the twelve apostles stand on both sides, and a mosaic of Jesus Christ is engraved on the front semicircular wall. In the underground cathedral, a copper plate containing the remains of Bishop Trollope is engraved. It is located 200 meters from Exit 3 of City Hall Station on Seoul Subway Lines 1 and 2.
